Nylons are condensation polymers or copolymers formed by reacting monomers containing equal parts of amine and carboxylic acid.
The general characteristics of PA66:
- Good chemical resistance
- High heat resistance
- Good fatigue resistance
Nylon needs to be dried prior to processing.
PA6,6 is hygroscopic. Moisture gives a reversible plasticizing affect and material needs to be conditioned after processing.
Zytel offers a range of superior thermal properties in PA66 with Zytel Plus!
• Withstand longer periods of exposure to hot air vs standard nylon.
• Withstand significantly higher temperatures than standard nylon.
• Withstand more than 3000 hours exposure to hot oil and 3000 hours exposure to hot automotive coolant.
• Last 2-3 times longer than other nylons (PA66) exposed to aggressive chemicals and hot environments.
• Retain most of its weld strength after 1000 hours at 210°C.

Unfilled and toughened grades of Zytel can have up to 8x more impact resistance fore example:
- Zytel MT409AHS (medium toughend PA66)
- Zytel ST801 (super tough PA66)
Zytel also offers a range of glass filled and flame retardant grades.
