Created in August 2002 through the integration of six companies from the Odebrecht Group and the Mariani Group, Braskem is now the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the leading producer of polypropylene in the United States. Braskem's production focuses on polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins, along with basic chemical inputs such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, benzene, toluene, chlorine, soda, and solvents. Their comprehensive portfolio also includes green polyethylene produced from 100% renewable sugarcane sources.

Braskem is the only integrated petrochemical company for the first and second generation of thermoplastic resins in Brazil, offering competitive advantages like production scale and operational efficiency. These compounds are crucial for the second generation, which produces thermoplastic resins (PE, PP, and PVC) used by third-generation processors.
