Brand information
Created in August 2002 by the integration of six companies from Odebrecht Group and the Mariani Group, Braskem is currently the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the largest producer of polypropylene in the United States. Its production focuses on polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyvinylchloride (PVC) resins, in addition to basic chemical inputs such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, benzene, toluene, chlorine, soda, and solvents, among others. Together, they make up one of the most comprehensive portfolios in the industry by also including the green polyethylene produced from the sugarcane, from 100% renewable sources.
Braskem is part of the chemical and petrochemical industry, which has a significant share in several supply chains and is essential for economic development. In this context, chemistry and plastics contribute to creating sustainable solutions to improve the lives of people in sectors such as housing, food, and mobility.
Business model
Braskem is the only integrated petrochemical company for the first and second generation of thermoplastic resins in Brazil. This translates into competitive advantages, such as production scale and operational efficiency.
The first generation produces basic petrochemicals such as ethylene and propylene from naphtha, natural gas, and ethane. These compounds are crucial to the second generation, which involves the production of thermoplastic resins (PE, PP, and PVC), later used by the third-generation processors.
