Informations sur la marque

Producteurs: CelaneseGroupe de polymères: PPSGroupe/type de polymère: PPS

Fortron® PPS by Celanese is a high-performance polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) designed to withstand extreme conditions while maintaining excellent mechanical and chemical stability. As a semicrystalline polymer, Fortron® PPS exhibits outstanding thermal resistance, high stiffness, superior strength, and excellent creep resistance, making it an ideal material for demanding industrial applications.

Key Properties of Fortron® PPS:

  • High temperature stability – Continuous service temperatures up to 240°C (464°F), with short-term exposure beyond this limit

  • Exceptional chemical resistance – Insoluble in all known solvents below 200°C (392°F); highly resistant to automotive fuels, hydraulic fluids, acids, and bases

  • Flame resistance – Inherent flame-retardant properties; UL 94 V-0 rated, with some grades achieving 5VA classification

  • Low moisture absorption – Ensures dimensional stability even in humid or high-moisture environments

  • Excellent creep resistance – Maintains structural integrity under prolonged mechanical stress, even at elevated temperatures

  • Lead-free soldering compatibility – Suitable for electronic applications requiring high thermal stability

Available Grades of Fortron® PPS:

Fortron® PPS is available in multiple formulations tailored to meet the needs of various industries and applications:

  • Glass-filled grades – Enhanced stiffness and strength for structural components

  • Mineral-glass grades – Balanced mechanical properties with improved processability

  • Low-wear grades – Designed for friction and wear applications, reducing maintenance needs

  • Blow-moulding grades – Optimised for complex hollow components

  • Medical technology (MT®) grades – Compliant with medical industry standards

Processing Methods:

Fortron® PPS is highly versatile and can be processed through multiple manufacturing techniques, including:

  • Injection moulding – Ideal for high-precision, high-volume production

  • Extrusion – Used for film, fibre, sheet, and stock shapes

  • Blow moulding – Suitable for creating complex hollow parts

  • Meltblown and spunbond technologies – Used for producing melt-spun nonwovens

  • Compression moulding – Suitable for high-viscosity unfilled grades to create sheets, rods, and prototype components

Applications and Industry Approvals:

Fortron® PPS is widely recognized across multiple industries and holds regulatory approvals for applications in:

  • Automotive – Components exposed to high heat and aggressive chemicals, such as fuel system parts, electrical connectors, and under-the-hood components

  • Electronics – High-performance insulators, circuit components, and lead-free soldering applications

  • Aerospace – Lightweight yet highly durable materials for aircraft interiors and structural parts

  • Industrial equipment – Pumps, valves, and mechanical components requiring chemical resistance and dimensional stability

  • Food and drinking water applications – Compliant with food contact safety standards

  • Medical technology – Used in precision medical components requiring biocompatibility and high strength

Fortron® PPS delivers a combination of exceptional thermal stability, chemical resistance, and mechanical performance, making it a preferred material for engineers and manufacturers worldwide.
