Polystyrene is one of the oldest plastics in the world, yet it remains widely used due to its affordability and outstanding properties. General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) is known for its transparency, while High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) is valued for its impact resistance.

Polystyrene High Impact (HIPS) tends to have low Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ESCR). However, TRINSEO offers both GPPS and HIPS, along with specialised grades that feature enhanced properties.
