Impet® PET: Polyethylene Terephthalate

Outstanding Physical Properties, Superior Thermal and Chemical Resistance

Impet® thermoplastic polyester (PET) resins, supplied by Celanese®, feature distinctive crystallisation characteristics that provide outstanding physical properties and superior thermal and chemical resistance. These resins are capable of supporting higher temperature exposure.

Product Properties: Impet® PET offers increased temperature performance without the cost of high-heat polymers. It is suitable for electrical components that require electrical properties at elevated temperatures. Under high stress and high temperature conditions, the component resists creep.

• Very hard, rigid, and strong

• Very good creep strength

• Paintable surface

• High heat-distortion temperature (HDT/A to 228°C)

• Service temperature up to 150°C

• Good low friction and wear-resistant properties

• Very good electrical and dielectric properties

• High chemical resistance and weathering resistance

Grades:

• Glass fibre reinforced

• Special coloured formulations

Applications:

• Grill opening retainer (non-visible mounting bracket) front of car

• Ignition coils and chassis

• Structural parts (e.g. vent veins, exterior car door escutcheons, headlamp brackets, roof racks, wiper motor)

• Bobbins, switches, sockets, terminal blocks, etc. (including Auto E&E)

• Stove/oven knobs and handles

Custom-modified Impet® PET resins are available to meet the specific requirements of certain packaging and film applications.
