Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), produced by Sipchem Chemicals Company (SCC), an affiliate of Sipchem since 2014, is a solid thermoplastic made from 1,4 butanediol and purified terephthalic acid. With a production capacity of 63,000 metric tons per annum (mtpa), PBT is known for its mechanical strength and heat resistance up to 150°C.

Product Details

PBT is a robust engineering polymer widely used as an insulator in the electrical and electronics industries. It is also utilised in the automotive sector for components such as electrical systems, mirror housings, handles, and fuel systems. Additionally, PBT is found in various household goods, including shower heads and irons. This versatile material can be processed into fibres, making it suitable for clothing applications such as sportswear.
