Fortron® PPS by Celanese is a high-performance polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) designed to withstand extreme conditions while maintaining excellent mechanical and chemical stability. As a semicrystalline polymer, Fortron® PPS exhibits outstanding thermal resistance, high stiffness, superior strength, and excellent creep resistance, making it an ideal material for demanding industrial applications.
Key Properties of Fortron® PPS:
High temperature stability – Continuous service temperatures up to 240°C (464°F), with short-term exposure beyond this limit
Exceptional chemical resistance – Insoluble in all known solvents below 200°C (392°F); highly resistant to automotive fuels, hydraulic fluids, acids, and bases
Flame resistance – Inherent flame-retardant properties; UL 94 V-0 rated, with some grades achieving 5VA classification
Low moisture absorption – Ensures dimensional stability even in humid or high-moisture environments
Excellent creep resistance – Maintains structural integrity under prolonged mechanical stress, even at elevated temperatures
Lead-free soldering compatibility – Suitable for electronic applications requiring high thermal stability
