Created in August 2002 through the integration of six companies from the Odebrecht Group and the Mariani Group, Braskem is now the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the leading producer of polypropylene in the United States. Braskem's production focuses on polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins, along with basic chemical inputs such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, benzene, toluene, chlorine, soda, and solvents. Their comprehensive portfolio also includes green polyethylene produced from 100% renewable sugarcane sources.

As a key player in the chemical and petrochemical industry, Braskem significantly contributes to various supply chains and is essential for economic development. Business Model

Braskem is the only integrated petrochemical company for the first and second generation of thermoplastic resins in Brazil, offering competitive advantages like production scale and operational efficiency. The first generation involves producing basic petrochemicals such as ethylene and propylene from naphtha, natural gas, and ethane. These compounds are crucial for the second generation, which produces thermoplastic resins (PE, PP, and PVC) used by third-generation processors.
