Pebax® Resins by Arkema: Versatile and High-Performance

Pebax® resins, produced by Arkema, are remarkable materials known for their unique properties, making them ideal for high-performance sports equipment. Whether it's in running shoes, ski boots, or other athletic gear, the combination of lightness, toughness, flexibility, and energy return helps athletes perform at their best. However, this nylon block copolymer is suitable for a wide range of applications, including:

Pebax® is a flexible polyamide consisting of a regular linear chain of rigid polyamide segments and flexible polyether segments. By controlling the ratio of these segments, Pebax® is available in a range of shore hardness and properties. Key characteristics include:

• Flexibility and impact resistance at low temperatures

• Low density

• Hydrophilic properties in some grades

• Antistatic properties in some grades

• Breathability for films in specific grades

• Range of shore hardness

• Good chemical resistance

In addition to the traditional portfolio, Pebax® Rnew is a sustainable option, being partially bio-based. The use of castor oil, which requires minimal water and is non-edible, adds to their sustainability. The difference between Pebax® Rnew® and standard Pebax® grades lies in the amide block, with Rnew® using PA11 and standard grades using PA12.
